BIOGRAPHIE
The friendship between SMDB’s dancers goes back a long way.
Although the trio was only formed three years ago, when Maestro introduced Jack Herror and Spoke to each other, he had previously been in contact with both guys separately since his early school days.
But it was three years ago that SMDB were born, with the dancers being united by their communal love for electro-dance.
Since then they have become the founders of the Milky Way movement - an electro-dance style influenced by Hip Hop, Funk and Rock. The group has posted blogs on several websites and their popularity is clear with over 8 million viewers logging on.
While starting a new life as artists, Maestro and Jack Herror are continuing their studies at university.
Spoke, on the other hand has decided to stop his education in order to focus solely on his passion: dancing.
He shares his passion of electro-dancing with deaf people by giving them lessons through the association ‘Chantdanse’ in the Marais. He has also starred as a judge in dance competitions such Vertifight and Battle Virgin.
The Phenomenon “We Don’t Dance, We Are The Dance”
To practice their dance, the group needed a very good sound and it was ‘Mr Time’ who produced the track “We Don’t Dance, We Are The Dance” and the voices on the single are that of the dancers!
‘Mr Time’ has a unique style and the sound is influenced by the 80s (Michael Jackson, Prince, Alan Parsons, Ian Hammer, Sugarhill Gang, Herbie Hancock...) and 90s (Josh Wink, Daft Punk...), as well as the electro clubbing DISCO era. It is the perfect example of ‘Back to the Future…’
Mr Time discovered three dancers with a unique style and movement in SPOKE, JACK HERROR and MAESTRO. The three of them symbolise the musical universe of Mr Time and the DJ has decided to dedicate his efforts to making this group a success.
Therefore the first single "WE DON'T DANCE, WE ARE THE DANCE" and then the concept of a mini album was composed especially for SPOKE, JACK HERROR and MAESTRO.
“We Don’t Dance, We Are The Dance” is a song for every generation, it’s a general sound that can be enjoyed by all youngsters with a passion for life, fun, dancing and enjoyment!
Without the strict uniformity but with more fluidity than techtonik, the ‘Milky Way’ was creation of SMDB through influences from Hip Hop, Funk and Rock.
